I usually jack up the volume on my headphones when weaving through Canal Street’s not adorably clueless tourist crowds.
“Miss?! You want handbag?! Big, leather?! You want Chanel?! You want Dior?!”
Yes I want handbag, big, leather. Yes I want Chanel. Yes I want Dior. Know what I don’t want? To be conned into buying fakes by [...]

I never talk to strangers, candy or no. But last week, during a research trip to Williamsburg, I made an exception. I was about to try on an armfull of kickass dresses at Flores Antique Clothing when I came across two dudes trying on stuff in the men’s section. One of the guys asked, “What [...]

A note on the In/Out factor of leggings – the jury’s still out on whether they’re officially acceptable or oh-so-over. I’d never, ever wear leggings and a tunic-esque top and call it dressing up. I’d also never be caught dead in baggy sweatpants (save those times when I roll into my deli at 7am in [...]

Century 21 is like Macy’s on crack. Every day is Black Friday. But – as is the case with many scary things in life – if you strap on a pair and jump in with both feet, you might just find what you’re looking for…The handbag section at Century 21 is kind of like Magic Eye; if you look too closely, you’ll never see the picture within the colorful, splotchy mess. Take a step back, and poof! the picture – (read: the massive brown leather L.A.M.B. bag on the top corner shelf) emerges…

…as long as they’re bonafide vintage, that is – Stuff White People Like says so. Stuff White People Like is the only blog I read for fun. Why? Because most blogs are either so grammatically retarded and/or uber predictable that I feel partially lobotomized post-consumption. Stuff White People Like might be more lifestyle than actual [...]

Spring hath sprung, which means it’s time to de-clutter and disinfect. I’m not talking about dusting your apt and scrubbing your oven – that’s what cleaning services are for. I’m talking about ridding your closet of the inevitable uglies cowering out of sight on the far hangers and unreachable shelves. That “Brooklyn” tee you bought [...]

It’s pretty obvs by now that I’m maniacally obsessed with the Park Slope outpost of Beacon’s Closet. I assumed that their Williamsburg shop was similarly excellent save for the fact that, well, it’s in Williamsburg, land o’ the anti-JAPs. A combination of sloth and fear hindered my urge to check out the store until recently, [...]

The fashion mag powers-that-be won’t start gushing, “White this Summer, OMG!” until April; I wear white all year round because it’s eye-catching and I’m an attention whore, but to each her own.
I can’t effing remember who makes this fab little shirtdress, but the fact that it retails for $336 means it’s JAPtastic enough that Scoop [...]

Looking loaded is about integrating legit, brand name shit with cheap finds. This means that one must occasionally pony up for said brand name shit. I usually can’t stomach paying more than $40 per article of cheap-ish clothing but when my wardrobe is in dire need of a label injection I make exceptions. A common [...]
