Travel JAP: Vermont Consignment

I found a charming little consignment shop in Woodstock, VT en route home from my friend’s wedding weekend. Said shop affirmed what I already knew to be true of secondhand stores: The best stuff is off the beaten path (i.e. NOT IN NEW YORK, so no more gaff about your respective non-NYC thrift scenes sucking in comparison. If you have the good fortune of living elsewhere, go to thethriftshopper.com, type in your zip, print out the list, get in the car and road trip it. You’ll thank me later :P ).

I’d heard mixed reviews of Who Is Sylvia before I hit the store. After a thorough investigation, I’m rating it as follows:

Clothing = Meh

Accessories = Mindblowing

The hats, scarves, bags, gloves, etc. weren’t just to die for; they were, on the whole, remarkably well-priced.

Now that’s the kind of signage I like to see. This furry dream of a hat isn’t going to leave my head all winter for two reasons: It’s super warm, and it provides me with an excuse to continually boast about my budget shopping skillz. I’m already practicing:

This hat? I found it at a little consignment shop in Vermont for FIVE BUCKS. Isn’t that nuts?!
