This dress was, initially, an erroneous purchase from OMG Jeans (an NYC-based chain of questionable taste specializing in the sale of price-slashed Levi’s and Calvin Klein denim). Incidentally, the store also hawks Forever 21.

Two elements of the aforementioned dress duped me into paying $14.99 for it (reduced from $24.99, btw): The pockets, and the Dirty Dancing-esque color.
I made the mistake of not trying on the dress in the store, and so wasn’t reminded of the babydoll cut’s ability to moonlight as maternity garb until later that day. Preggers Miss Piggy: Not my best look.

I took to my scissors, hoping to hack my way out of this sartorial snafu. Some careful hemline surgery illuminated the inch-thick, elastic-ruched, skirt-portion of the dress as a tie-belt of sorts – babydoll muumuu no more. A few more snips to the neckline, a sports-bra added as much for eighties flair as for coverage, and the dress was officially more badass than busted.

You’re pretty savvy with a pair of scissors, Cheap Jap. I think the sports bra is a nice added touch
Looks really good!
The thing is that I hate wearing dresses with tights (so I only wear dresses in the summer), because these fabrics don’t “slide”, u’know… it’s like the dress gets stuck to the tights… I hate that.
Or are your tights really “slik” and slippery? Some are more so I think…
