I initially intended on wearing this Triumphant Ten-Dollar Tunic (by Reiss – word) as a dress, as it was def long enough to masquerade as such. When I tried it on in outside of an ill-lit dressing room, I noticed a serious problemo: The thing was see-through.
BALLS.
Well, not on top – the ruching provided apt coverage. But the skirt portion revealed the entire outline of my legs, which meant spandex shorts weren’t going to do jack. A fitted, jersey-knit miniskirt would have been ideal but shockingly enough, I don’t own anything that slutty. I do, however, own a shit-ton of wifebeaters.
How to: Convert a Wifebeater into a Miniskirt Slip
Step 1 – Using your fave pair of fabric scissors, cut a horizontal line across the beater under the armholes. Discard (and/or tie around head – do-rag accomplished). The beater should now look like a fitted miniskirt of sorts.
Step 2 – Cut a narrow tights strip from an old pair of ‘hose. Said strip should be long enough to wrap and tie comfortably around your waist.
Step 3 – Using scissors and/or a utility knife, poke/slice six evenly spaced holes around the top of the cut-up beater, one inch or so into the material. Do your poking on the scissored end of the underthing; the bottom hem should remain unscathed.
Step 4 – Thread the tights strip through the holes, alternating inside and outside of the material (a la lacing up a sneaker). Leave ends un-tied.
Step 5 – Pull on underthing; tie ends of tights strip around waist.

When the wifebeater-turned-miniskirt underthing is securely in place, don formerly transparent tunic over homemade slip.
Belt at waist to enhance tunic’s dress-like appearance.

See-through no more!
(Facial expression a mixture of Twitter-related fascination and horror. I can’t even say Hi in 140 words or less. How the eff am I supposed to tweet?)

Ohh, I love it!
can i please just tell you that you are an effing genius?
That is genius! I love your expression.
