Shoe Addict Scores Atwood Pumps

I haven’t yet had the occasion to introduce my bestie Sarah to the world of re-sale shopping; I’m making a pilgrimage to Philadelphia to show her how it’s done sometime soon, in part to save her from herself. See, Sarah has a big bad shoe addiction, one that will be a hell of a lot less pricey once I find her some high-end consignment stores in Philly. In the meantime, she’s on her own, and that means she hits Boyd’s Semi-Annual Sale twice a year without fail.

At first glance, $298 shoes might not seem like the greatest of steals, even if said shoes were originally $598. Alas, these aren’t just any shoes: They’re legit Brian Atwood Patent Leather Platform Peep-Toe Pumps (and alliteration-friendly, to boot!) Brian Atwoods retail at at $560, minimum, and prices can soar up to $1400. To me, that’s ludicrous. But to a true shoe enthusiast, owning a pair is akin to owning wearable art.
Initially, I didn’t understand why Sarah was so effing psyched – yes, half off ain’t half bad, but $300 shoes are still a serious splurge. Then I put myself in her shoes (pun intended, har har) and imagined myself in the same situation with handbags. A $600 bag from a coveted brand at half off? Done and done.

Mazel Tov Sarah. Wear ‘em well.

While I can totally understand her excitement, I’m glad you’re going to show her the ways of thrift. She’ll be a happier, wealthier gal for your guidance!

when you find high end places in philly let me know! since i live there. and love it there. but have no money since i’m a college student.

  • I have to say, I’ve done better. I just think that with effective trolling of end of season sales, you can get some incredible deals on shoes. For example, I once got a pair of Prada booties that retail for $695 for $187. At Saks.

I know you’re a handbag girl and all, but I hope you do more shoe related posts in the future- there are a lot of great deals to be had, at department stores and otherwise.
