I’ve been known to rag on American Apparel for their price points, so the following may or may not make me a serious hypocrite. Whatevs. Last week, I hit the store with the intent of purchasing a replacement Ruched Front Tube Bra, as my current one’s been worn to the point of elasticity loss.
En route to the register, I happened upon a rack of Unisex See Thru Tanks in varying colors. They weren’t just long and thin enough to wear approximately nine thousand different ways; they were the tactile equivalent of a fluffy bunny tail. Also $29 each. Oy.

A $29 tank top is usually an Eff No in my book, but I bit the bullet and bought one in Athletic Blue anyway, as I’d never before encountered a basic of its caliber.
I soon discovered that the See Thru wundertank could be tucked into shorts, donned over camis and under cropped tees, paired with skirts, tied at the neck, belted at the waist, I mean, the thing was INVINCIBLE. I wore it for three days straight.
On the fourth day, I tried to wear something other than the wundertank, for the sake of variety.
I couldn’t do it. In the space of a few days, I’d become a veritable tank top junkie. I needed another fix in different colors and I needed it ASAP. So I walked around the corner to my nearest American Apparel and bought two more (in White and Sea Foam).
Once upon a time, I would have balked at the prospect of spending ninety dollars on three tank tops. Do I regret how much these puppies cost? You bet. Do I regret buying them in spite of monetary consequences? Not a lick.
I hate your pricetags, American Apparel. But, hot damn, I heart your clothes.

I’ve been looking for something like this, but $29!! I don’t think I could do it! =(
Oh, come on! Live a little!
I save at thrift stores…feel no remorse about TANK TOPS!
not sure if you like these, but they’re also sheer (although not as see thru as yours) butttt they’re way cheap on amazon.
