Nearly nine months ago, I took a bold and possibly misguided stand against $24 camisoles.
Maybe Anthropologie’s Plain and Simple Eloise Cami was the most magical one I’d ever purchased. Maybe I’d worn it for two years straight to the point of pilling. But I’d bought it before my Cheap JAP days; a time when such extravagances were throwaways.
I wasn’t about to pony up twenty four bucks for a new cami if that same amount could net me a gently worn pair of $200 designer jeans. I was savvier than that, smarter than that.
Turns out I was also an arrogant little shit.
For nine months I have toiled in search of something on par with the Eloise Camisole. And for nine months I have found NOTHING. I finally conceded defeat last week, and hit Anthropologie fully prepared to surrender.
I was planning on purchasing three Plain and Simples… then I tried on the Eloise Reversible Seamless Tank.
My joy can be experienced vicariously by viewing the video below.
Layering: The answer to life’s biggest questions. Or something.

I feel you. If you buy cheap basics, you will continuously replace and replace them so you might as well get a good one.
YES. THANK YOU. This is the perfect replacement for the black SOMA seamless tank I thrifted months ago. It’s become the most important staple in my wardrobe, and after googling it, I was surprised to learn it hails for CHICO’s: http://www.soma.com/store/browse/product.jsp?maxRec=47&pageId=1&productId=100066455&viewAll=&prd=Seamfree+Fabulous+Cami&subCatId=cat5079277&color=&fromSearch=&inSeam=&posId=1&catId=cat5039300&cat=Somawear+Tops+and+Tunics&onSale=&colorFamily=&maxPg=3&size= (incidentally, the tanks appear to be on sale). In any case, the tank is wonderful. And the Eloise tank looks like it’ll be just as great.
I’m sure you already know, but anthro often has their camis on sale for 1/2 off…
re: size on the eloise tank. do they run true to size.
more of your videos , plz!!!!!!
Thx for the tip. I went to buy one yesterday and they are awesome. Can’t wait to wear it every day from now till forever.
Very cool video, you edited it very well and I like your opening/closing credits. Anyhoo onto less dorky comments.. I totally agree with you on the camisoles. It may irk you to pay more for them, but for the amount of use you get it’s worth it and it really does transform those shirts!
