Housing Works Fashion for Action

I checked out Housing Works’ Fashion for Action Preview Sale last night, courtesy of a press pass (thank you kindly).

For those unaware, Fashion for Action is what happens when designers and internet merchants (i.e. Gilt Group) get their do-gooder on:  In lieu of selling last season’s merch to discount outlets for a quick buck, they donate it to Housing Works, and profits go to ending AIDS/homelessness. Respect, for reals.

The price points are higher than Housing Works’ usual fair, but that’s understandable: All the merch is new, tags on, and current enough to pass as trendy.

The selection’s totally drool-worthy.

On the high end, there’s Theory, Vintage DVF, MARC by Marc Jacobs, Agnes B., Rogan (the real deal, not that shitshow of a Target collection), Sunner, Rag&Bone and more; in the $15 – $50 range, there’s Anna Sui for Target, DKNY, Converse by John Varvatos, etc. Designer shoes and bags abound as well. Think of it as an infinitely more sane version of Century 21.

If you’re in the market for some unworn discount designer goodies, I highly recommend hitting the Public Sample Sale this weekend at the Chelsea location (17th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues).

Charity: So hot right now. ;)
