I think this top/vest combo subdues these bootylicious $13 Jean Shorts from Necessary Clothing appropriately. Then again, my notion of what constitutes appropriate is possibly skewed by my Garden State roots. Whatever. I effing heart this outfit.

I bought the vest eons ago at Monk‘s thriftastic Park Slope location – eleven bucks, if memory serves. As you can plainly see, said vest and this Target Tri-Blend Tank (which, even in spite of pillage, I can’t stop wearing) make a fab pair. The vest isn’t just cool; it’s effing magical. What, praytell, makes it so?
Let’s conclude with the overall cost of this look. The boots are on loan from my BFF Lucy (originally her Mom’s, circa 1970-something) and as such, cost zero dollars. With the $11 vest, $6 tank and $13 shorts, the whole shebang is $30, TOTAL.
Methinks I’ve got The Today Show schooled in the Under-$100 Outfit capacity.

That vest rules. And thanks for the reminder that I needn’t cloister my boot collection till fall …
Love the vest!
